We have specialized in manufacture and supply of special metals required by our clients. The demand for Carbon Steel Tubes is heavy and recurring. All our products maintain ASTM standards. This may make the manufacturing a challenging process. Om tubes mainly specialize in the various nickel, stainless, duplex and super alloys in the form of the plate, sheet, bar, tubing, pipe, flanges, fittings, wire and welding material. Other grades offered at Om Tubes are aluminum, copper, titanium, brass, carbon steel and bronze. We serve customers in various countries with all size demands. We supply, process and custom fabricate product for various industries including chemical process, mining, oil and gas, power generation, petrochemical and more.

Carbon Steel Tubes

Carbon Steel Tubes is basically a hollow cylinder of metal, plastic, glass, etc. for holding or transporting something, chiefly liquids or gases. It conducts the flow of liquids or can also be used for containing electrical wires. The material of which the tube is made may defer. It is generally confused with pipe but there is a big difference in diameters and thicknesses leading to different types of fittings used to connect them. For making joints and connections soldering is used. Sometimes threaded connections are also used as an alternative. These days nylon tubes are in great demand in industries and production mills. They have medical applications too as they are widely used as flexible pipes such as breathing tubes or tubes for IVs in hospitals. Manufacturing of seamless tubing begins with either an extruded hollow tube or a solid bar drilled to our exacting specifications. Carbon Steel Tubes respond positively to cold working techniques. Cold working is done until it reaches the specific size, tolerances, and temper required by the customer. Carbon Steel Tubes have to be cut cleaned and heat treated after each cold working cycle. This makes it prepared for next cold working step. In 21st century tubes are used in almost all major factories. There are various grades of tubes made of various alloys. The mixing of specific elements enhances its strength and corrosion resistance.

Carbon steel tubes is basically an alloy made from iron and carbon. The alloy is made from 1.65% manganese, 0.60% silicon, 0.60% copper and carbon content in the range of 0.12–2.0% Carbon steel is the most used alloy all over the globe in almost every company and production mills. Steel with low carbon content has same properties as that of iron, soft but easily formed. Plain carbon steel and alloy steel are the two forms of carbon steel. Plain carbon steel can be further classified into high carbon steel, low carbon steel and mild carbon steel. The application of carbon steel is more in companies where the steel is used in large amount of steel. The density of carbon steel is 7.85 g/cm3 and the Young’s modulus is 210 GPa which is approximately 30,000,000 psi. The only disadvantage of carbon steel is yield point run out where the material has 2 yield points. Carbon steel can resist over a period of time. It is brittle in nature. Along with that it’s hard and wear resistance. The process used to harden only exterior of steel parts is known as case hardening. Carbon steel is not very hardenable but gives surface good wear characteristic and leaves core tough.

Carbon steel is used in cutting tools, blades, springs and high strength wires. Components requiring extreme hardness like blades, cutting tools and large parts use carbon steel as raw material.

Quality of the resulting steel depends on impurities of various other elements and it has a significant effect on the quality of the resulting steel. Steel becomes red-short (brittle and crumbly at working temperatures) due to presence of trace amounts of sulfur. Low-alloy carbon steel, such as A36 grade, contains about 0.05% sulfur and melts around 1,426–1,538 °C (2,599–2,800 °F). To improve the hardenability of low-carbon steels Manganese is often added.

Special Properties

  • When carbon content is increased from 0.01 to 1.5% the strength and hardness increases.
  • An increases in carbon content beyond .5% causes appreciable reduction in the ductility and malleability of the steel.
  • Low carbon steel or mild steel (carbon content 0.25%) respond to heat treatment as improvement in the ductility. There is no effect in its strength properties.
  • For medium carbon steel having carbon content ranging from 0.25 to 0.70% improves in the machinability by heat treatment.
  • Medium carbon steel is adaptable for machining.
  • High carbon steel contains carbon in the range of 0.70 to 1.05%
  • High carbon steel withstands high shear and wear hence undergoing little deformation in fully heat-treated condition.
  • At maximum hardness, the steel is brittle and if some toughness is desired it must be obtained at the expense of hardness.

Typical Applications of  Carbon Steel Tubes Suppliers include :

  • Carbon steel is widely used in bending, crimping and swaging processes
  • Carbon steel is used in carburized particle. It is used to make worms, gears, pins, dowels, non-critical components of the tool and die sets, tool holders, pinions, machine parts, ratchets, and dowel.
  • Carbon steel prevents cracking in severe bends.
  • Drilling, machining, threading and punching processes are improved by carbon steel.
  • Carbon steel provides surface hardness and a soft core to certain parts of machines.
  • Carbon steel is mostly used for fixtures, mounting plates, and spacers.

Carbon steel is the most diverse alloy family. Its pricing depends on the type of alloy our customer selects. It is usually cheaper compared to other alloys which usually have high chromium content and other expensive metals to enhance their properties. We make Carbon Steel Tubes according to the specification given by our client. The price of Carbon Steel Tubes will vary depending upon the specifications and mechanical properties.

The Processing of steel carp and alloy together leads to the production of carbon Steel. The amount of Alloy mixed decides the capability of the Steel works.

But still they are following steps:

1. Step one is to melt the metal including alloy and non-alloy into an electric arc furnace and later on adding the chemical energy like carbon, ferrosilicon, oxygen or fuel gas mixtures to speed up the process

2. After the melting process is done. The melts still is further processed in AOD which is Argon-Oxygen Decarburization. In which the carbon content is reduced and the mixture of Argon and Oxygen is added.

3. If we need low amount of Argon and oxygen then melted steel is added to the VOD which is Vacuum Oxygen Decarburization. And then melted steel is poured on the ladle
